Matty and I grew up only 22 miles apart and shockingly never met each other until 2010 despite how many times we should have met! Our Dads worked for the same company under the same boss and every year we both went to Canobe Lake Park for the Digital company party. Our Moms both worked in Education and attended the same conferences. My brother and Matty were even on the same ODP soccer team! Matty and I both worked in the party – I mean beverage -- industry and covered many of the same accounts. At one point we only lived one mile apart. It really is hard to believe and shocking that Matty and I did not meet sooner in life. It was during my final weekend in Portsmouth New Hampshire before I started my new role in Boston that I ended up meeting Matty. My cousin Dave wanted me to go out to the bar with him in Portsmouth and I didn’t feel like going out. After sarcastically being called ‘old’ for not wanting to go out… I very reluctantly decided to meet Dave. We ended up at Poco’s Waterfront Restaurant and that’s where I met Matty. He was so handsome and we both realized how much we had in common. Right away I felt a connection with him and was completely lost in conversation. I honestly knew there was something special about Matty when my drink was nearly finished and he offered to buy me a margarita. It was then that he found the way to my heart. We dated long-distance for about two years and then he made the ultimate sacrifice by moving in with me in Boston and did the long commute to and from New Hampshire for work. Matty is the most thoughtful and loving person I have ever met. I feel so blessed to have met him and I can’t wait to marry my best friend. |
