A beautiful fall day in Canmore; the mountains, my favorite place in the world, the sky a perfect blue, the air crisp but refreshing.A weekend get-away that was about to get interesting!

Todd & I had a delicious lunch at The Drake (many of my friends have spent a few late nights here!) & Todd was strangely quiet.  For those of you who know Todd, silence is not his strong suit, he ALWAYS has a story to tell, a joke to make or a hug to give.  What could be bothering him? A romantic weekend get-away, no kids, no worries......

After lunch we decided on a walk, down the mainstreet & checked out a few shops.  Then he wasn't just quiet, he was distracted, nervous, jittery.  Who was this man & what have they done with MY Todd?!  I was about to find out, as we headed down the boardwalk along the frozen creek.  What was likely only minutes felt like an eternity as we walked down that path, I had a distinct feeling he needed to talk to me about something & I was nervous about what that might be.  Soon we arrived at a bench where he asked if I would like to sit down & I did.  Almost instantly, he was down on one knee, professing his love for me & my children & promising me a life of love & adventure.  He spoke for several minutes; with every word I saw the nervousness he'd carried all day fade.  He shared a long list of promises, dreams & hopes for us & then he asked if I would do him the honor of becoming his wife.

Well, of course I said yes!! Then he presented me with a ring that put the amazing scenery to shame; even the frost covered trees & the mountains with their snow capped peaks couldn't measure up in that moment.  If you've seen my ring, you will know what I am talking about :)

In those few minutes where the rest of the world was shut out, we shared some laughter & some tears on that bench, but we failed to realize the temperature had dropped slightly. Our eyelashes began to freeze & then one of mine got stuck shut. Hand in hand, we ran back down that path, giggling like school kids, either full of love & excitment or maybe a bit nutty with hypothermia setting in, lol. We arrived half laughing, half crying but filled up to the brim with LOVE at the doors of the Rose & Crown.  We enjoyed a celebratory champagne & orange juice while we defrosted & then continued on our romantic weekend.......that part will stay just between Todd & I. ;)

Ironically, Todd proposed to me on Nov 10, 2012.  Exactly one year to the day, we will all arrive in Mexico for our wedding week!
