We both knew that the future included both of us in it, but we never actually talked about getting married. On Valentine's Day 2015, the outcome would be a surprise neither one of us expected....
We started the day by spending the morning on our boat, something we both love that only can be done on the West Coast in February! Following that, we took a leisurely walk through a beautiful Chinese Clasical Gardens in downtown Vancouver. By late afternoon we were preparing to go for dinner on a sunset dinner cruise; the same cruise we took on one of our first dates. Prior to leaving for dinner, Paul gave me a beautiful bracelet for me to wear to dinner.
We arrived at the dock for the cruise on time and were promptly seated at our table. As the dinner ran late we spent the time reminiscing on our day, while listening to the music being played in the background.
Paul had been planning to propose, but had not yet decided when. During our conversation, Paul had told me that when he booked the cruise, the company offered to fulfill any proposal requests during the night. His's reaction to that suggestion was "that would be too cheesy".
However, about 10 minutres after that conversation, a Michael Bulble song which was sentimental to the both of us, began playing. Paul suddnely became very serious and the look on his face telegraphed was about to happen. After saying some very romantic and personal things to me, he spontaneiously asked me to marry him.
That "in the moment" gesture of his love, was the perfect ending to the perfect day. We laughed later that my Valentine's Day bracelet had become my engagment bracelet.
