My Dad flew in to Pittsburgh for the weekend to spend some time with us. Without me knowing, Brian asked my Dad for permission to marry me on Friday evening once I went to bed.
Come Saturday night Brian kept asking me over and over what time we should go to Biddles - our favorite coffee shop in the entire world. He made sure to say that since my Dad was in town, we should get up super early before church and go get coffee for everyone. I was fine with that idea, but I didn't understand the urgency.
At the crack of dawn Brian came in my room to wake me up.. I rolled out of bed, threw on some mix matched hoodie and shoes and went to Biddles. I didn't bother to fix whatever hair situation I had going on that morning. I usually look in the mirror before I leave the house, but on this lovely day I didn't. We arrived at Biddles and sure enough it wasn't even open yet. We came home empty handed and as we were approaching my house, he turned around with tears in his eyes and said, "I have something to ask you." He got down on one knee, opened the box he was holding and asked, "Will you Marry me?"
Hearing those words come out of his mouth was such a special moment! I started crying, then laughing, then jumping up and down, and repeated those motions over and over again until finally Brian said, "Well don't you want to see the ring and put it on?" It was such a beautiful bonus to have the ring of my dreams and the man of my dreams all in the course of a trip to Biddles! The middle diamond is his Great Grandmother's and Brian picked out the most gorgeous setting. I am one lucky girl! |
