John and I met for the first time in Boise through a meeting of our friends. We both fight fire and he just got hired onto the crew that I was leaving. Our paths crossed occassionally through the next couple years, he bought a pull-up bar from me, he amazed me with his yo-yo skills, and we both joined some friends in California for a weekend getaway. Our love for snowmobiling brought us together again during the winter of 2008 and after two weeks we started dating. We haven't spent a day apart from each other since ...except for the 6 months out of the year that our jobs take us away from each other (I work in Colorado, he is in Idaho). I knew from the moment I met him that he was different than anyone I had ever met.
For anybody who knows John and I you will understand that our wedding is going to be as laid back and stress free as possible. I was once told that there is no such thing as an "easy" wedding but this will be the closest to it. We are having a beach wedding on the island of Isla mujeres. It is 8 miles off the coast of Cancun which is on the Yucatan Peninsula. We found this beautiful island on the advice of a crewmember of mine. He was a bartender in Cancun and said this is where he would go to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We understand many that would like to share this day with us can't make it all the way to Mexico but we will be thinking of you and try to describe everything when we get back.
We have found flights to be pretty consistently priced, anywhere from 300 to 450 R/T depending on where you are traveling from. Guests are required to stay at the resort (which is all inclusive) for the night of the wedding and rooms range from 380 to 600 for 2 queens. Expensive, I know, but remember- this includes all your meals, snacks, drinks, entertainment, and activities. Upon arriving in Cancun you will be issued a tourist pass, I think it's around $15.00. You will need to take a taxi or shuttle from the airport to where the ferry takes off. I am told this is a short ferry ride. I believe the best place to take it is at Puerto Juarez. For full information and schedules go to www.islamujeres.info/planning/ferries.asp. The other option is to set up a transfer through the resort. You can do this by calling 1-800-635-1836 x 6020. There are many other lodging options if you are planning on staying more than just the night of the wedding-which we hope you are. The easiest way I found things was to google isla mujeres hotels. Hotels.com is another favorite of mine. We booked our rooms at the resort through this site. They were cheaper than going through the resort website which is www.PalaceResorts.com. Once you are at this page just click on Isla Mujeres as your destination and start checking stuff out. Remember, it is the Mexican Caribbean. Pack for gorgeous weather and fun on the beach. This island doesn't have rental cars as it is 5 miles long and 300 yards wide. Bikes, scooters, and golf carts are the main ways of travel aside from walking to get around.
Tacinca and I would like to thank everyone for taking the time to look at our wedding website and registry. We are both very blessed to know you all and you will be in our thoughts even if you can't make it down. We have registered for some experiences at the resort but our main registry is at a separate website called MYREGISTRY.com. Like I said, this is a separate website that you can find by typing www.MYREGISTRY.com into the task bar. There has been some confusion on this so I just wanted to clarify. Please remember, don't feel pressured to send a gift. We sent announcements/invitations to share our future nuptuals, not to receive a present. Also, please check out our wedding website by clicking on the Our Wedding Website link at the top left of this message. We love you all!
