Jamil and I met at my best friend Barb Parkers house on Thanksgiving in 2006. I have ever since been thankful for the blessing I was given by meeting the love of my life. I was in the middle of a nasty divorce and had my children when I took my kids to Rick and Barbs house for Thanksgiving. You see Rick is Jamils first cousin and I had been to multiple parties and holidays at their house and had never met Jamil. I had met and seen Jamils mother and aunt various times. Jamil and I followed each other around Barbs house all afternoon and when I left to take my kids back to their fathers house before I went to work that evening I told Barb to "give him my number." I hear he asked Barb for my number after I left. He called me the next day and we went out. We went to dinner at a mexican food restaurant and then to The Bank (a downtown bar). We have been mostly inseparable ever since. This is not to say we didn't have some rocky times-especially at the beginning. Jamil saw me through some very hard times with my children and my ex-husband. He always took care of me when I felt as if I couldn't go on. He protected me at all times and endured many court appearances and major drama at home with the ex and my children. He has always kept my safety and comfort first and held me until I would go to sleep when my heart would be breaking from the awful gutt wrenching events that occured. Jamil told me very quickly at the very beginning that he had no intention of ever being married and I told him that I would not stay with him forever if he did not marry me and then I waited. It took a few years, but he is now just as excited to get married as I am. Now that he is ready, I know it's time. I adore him and he adores me. I didn't know what it was like to be so loved and adored and respected. We have true mutual respect for one another and I am so excited to spend the rest of my life with him-my love! |
