Bride

Did I know? Let's put it this way, I had my nails done the week before! ;-) I lead Ken off the scent by complaining that my nails were weak and breaking and I needed to get them done. You'd have thought that he would have maybe hinted that I should clean them up before he proposed... but Ken is not about girly details!

He did throw me off on when he was going to ask me... Our host, Patrick Arthurs, was driving along the Oregon coastline and we stopped to look at the Devil's Punch Bowl. From above, the Devil's Punch Bowl is a circular rock formation that has an arch into the ocean. At high tide, the Punch Bowl fills up with swirling water. At low tide, you can walk down inside of it. After we looked at the top of the Punch Bowl, we got in the car and moved around to park and hike down onto the beach and inside the Punch Bowl. It was a little chilly, so Ken & I grabbed our jackets. Patrick didn't grab his. As we started walking down the path, Patrick decided that he was going to go back to the car to get his jacket and said that he would meet us down on the beach. Smoothness, part I!

Ken and I continued walking down the path and talking about the natural beauty that we had witnessed, so far. It really was breathtaking! Then Ken stopped and pulled me to him and said a bunch of sweet romantic nothings that I don't remember because I was thinking.... he's doing it! he's doing it!!!!!! In classic Ken style, he did not get down on one knee or put the ring on my finger! He said, "Well, put it on!"  I love this man!

Patrick came back from the car with Prosecco and wine glasses, prepared to take lots of pictures and toast our new engagement. Smoothness, part II!

Groom

Having been to that exact spot on the Oregon coast before I knew exactly what I wanted to do when we planned our vacation out west. Toucan, who will be missed at the wedding, took directions very well. Although he thought processo was a type of meat at first, he couldn't have done a better job getting everything organized. I mean what woman doesn't love processo? The only challenge was keeping Kelly patient leading up to the trip but she chilled out. Once we hit the coast I knew the 'yes' was coming it was just a matter of time. Such an amazingly place to ask a wonderful woman to marry me. And I'm glad Toucan was there to celebrate with us. Especially since he won't be in Mexico because his second son is due at the same time, congratulations Patrick and Maux!
