Waking up on March 24th and getting ready for church never seemed so "normal" Little did I know a life changing event would take place on this beautiful day!
We both got up and started to get ready for church. Matt made a comment about my phone not being charged which I thought was strange because usually he would be happy that it was dead. He also told me he didn't "like" what I was wearing which was very unlike him so I made him pick something out of my closet. Again, this was very abnormal, but I still had no idea what he was scheming. We finally finished getting ready and headed out the door.
At church the whole family was there except Will which was strange because he never missed church. I was told he was at his friend’s house, which I later found to be untrue. More details later...
When we left church we headed over to Maudie’s which is our common spot for brunch after church. We pulled in to the restaurant parking lot and the Gammon's didn't pull in. Instead they headed towards the country club. I immediately noticed and said something. Matt then called his parents to ask where they were going and his Dad told him to come to the country club and to park at the bottom of the hill. Once we drove in Matt passed the first parking lot and went to the second one that was farther away. I was not happy about this because I was going to have to walk farther in my heels, and I did not understand why we were passing the first parking lot. I started the game of 20 questions... Why are we going to park here? Why don't we park by your parents? Why are we going this way instead of the front? I was clearly so confused and started questioning everything we did. I still didn't know what was going on at this point.
We walked up some stairs and I told him the doors were probably locked. He pulled them a few times before they actually opened up (this scared him). I was still convenience that we were going the wrong way and this way was not going to get us into the restaurant. Once we were inside Matt went to open the door to a room. When he opened the door to the room I noticed a decorated table with roses and sticks shaped with the words I love you below. It was then that his actions started to make sense. I had always wondered what this would be like and at this very moment I understood what was happening! His speech was breathtaking and his master plan was thought out so perfectly. This seemed too good to be true, like something you read about in books and see in movies and it was all happening in real life.
After I said yes our families were both there to help us celebrate! We were so happy to have them here with us to share this special moment. :)
