 | Brian and I went to the same highschool. We were in marching band together and after we both graduated we were on a message board of sorts for the marching band alum. I would see him pop up on in every once in a while and I knew he lived in California. I got a job in Nevada for a summer and asked if he would visit me and he said no! He said he was coming home for Christmas though, and since we had so many mutual friends we decided to get everyone together and go iceskating. There was an ice storm that night and no one showed up but us. We met up a few times on his visit home, and then he left. A few weeks later one of my more adventurous friends encouraged me to go visit him. I told her there's no way I could afford a flight to LA, but amazingly there was a flight on a student Budget. I flew in, and the car broke down on the 2.5 hour drive back up to Nipomo, CA. We spent 100+ miles in the tow truck with a very creepy dude, and I like to tell people we weren't dating when we got in the truck, and we were dating when we got out of it. I had a lovely short visit in California and knew that I wanted to come back. I cried when I left! I came back that summer and the summer after, and then 2 weeks after I graduated from Brevard College, I moved out to California permanently to be with Brian. I am so excited to spend the rest of my life with such a passionate, brilliant, man. Brian constantly encourages me to "be me." He is my travel buddy and my adventurous companion. |
