I wish I had an awesome story about how we were hangliding and I popped the question and I got it all on my Go-pro or that I proposed to her underneath a waterfall or on a beach in Antigua. But you see, we have four kids. So getting away at this point in our lives....is nearly impossible. I had gotten all this pressure from our kids about when I was going to marry mom, Dad and Melissa got married, blah blah blah. (Keep in mind our kids at the time wre 6, 4, 2, and 6 months). I had been secretly (or so I thought) been looking at ring designs and at the same time finding out exactly what she liked. I finally found a design that I thought she would love and that I also thought was very beautiful, so I met with our jeweler to get started on the ring. You see Lea isnt your average girl. To her diamonds arent forever, she didnt need diamonds (that changed real quick...lmao). So I tried to get creative and find other stones with pretty colors. I was finally able to decide on a ring and the stones and color. The jeweler had called me and let me know that the ring was ready for pick-up so I went and picked it up. That ring was burning a whole in my pocket. Another thing about us, is that we cant really keep suprises. It's not that we accidently tell. It's because we want to tell the other person and cant wait. I was waiting for a good date/time, but I couldnt wait. I remember getting home that evening from work and the kids were playing in their room. I wnt into the room and said, "Look what I got!" They saw it and their little eyes lit up, they started screaming, but I quickly got them to a low whisper. They were so excited. I knew they wanted to play a part, so I asked them to come with me. We walked into the kitchen, where Lea was cooking dinner and holding the baby. The kids were yelling and screaming. I got down on my knee and the rest is history or so they say. |
