Kevin and I happened to sit together in Optometry class that day and I was STARVING.  It was the class before lunch and I couldn't stop thinking what I wanted to eat.  Kevin, known for being a social butterfly, started to make small talk with his So-Cal surfer accent (I thought he was from Florida).  "...Something, something, something....I make the most awesome sandwich..in the world!! Would you like to try it?"

How can I resist??  FREE LUNCH!

Ladies and gentlemen, it was the most awesome sandwich..in the world! And what made it even better, was the company.  Did I mentioned that he serenaded me with his guitar while I was eating?  What a dreamboat...(sigh)

Little did I know that this was the start of a great friendship and love.

It was another boring day in optometry school, only a mere hour before I would be able to go home and eat one of my awesome home-made sandwiches. I sat in my normal row, however, this time the cute Filipina girl with the southern accent sat next to me. Desiree and I informally knew each other from school events but never talked much. Her stomach made a growl which made me laugh. It was a nice ice breaker, we started talking and I ended up telling her about the awesome sandwiches I make. Of course she gave me this look of disbelief that a sandwich could be that amazingly delicious. So,  I invited her over to my apartment for lunch.

I made her lunch and we ended up finding out we have a lot in common such as our love for soccer. She also saw that I had a guitar and asked me to play her a song.

For you young single guys reading this. Learn to play the guitar, seriously, even if its only a few songs. Fact: Girls Love Guys who Play Guitar!

As I expected, Desiree was blown away by the most scrumptious sandwich. From that day forth, Desiree and I became best friends. To this day, I still make her sandwiches...
